ELKHART, Ind. – The Concord Student Council teamed up with Yuda Bands, a non-profit organization, to further education across the globe.

The school said the council developed a plan to raise money and sponsor a child’s education in a country where public education is does not exist, like Zimbabwe.

The senior class sponsored a 16-year-old named Lesley Mangezi, from Zimbabwe. Mangezi became the main provider of his household and was unable to receive an education in 2016.

Yuda Bands bracelets and the students at CHS are selling bracelets for $7 between December 18 and 21 and January 10 and 24.

The bracelets will be sold at basketball games and parent teacher conferences.

According to the school, they can also be bought on Dec. 19 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. while students are gift wrapping at the Concord Mall.

In order to help Mangezi achieve his dream of becoming a police officer, Concord must sell 855 bracelets.
