Concord hosts drum-a-thon to help Faith Mission

ELKHART, Ind. -- Drums pounded away at Concord High School on Friday.

The third annual Drum-a-thon at Concord High School kicked off at 6 p.m. on Friday and will continue until 6 a.m. on Saturday.

There are 20 students participating in this year's event.

"Between 6 and 8 p.m., the public is encouraged to come by and watch the event or if they want to participate, they can donate $20 on the spot," Ben Runkel, Concord percussion specialist, said. "They will get a chance to drum and they will actually get a 20-minute lesson from one of our instructors."

The group hopes to raise $4,000.

The group will donate 10 percent  of the money raised to Faith Mission in Elkhart. The rest will go to Concord's Percussion Program.
