Concord Schools approves new school day schedules, cuts late-start Tuesdays

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.—On Monday, members of the Concord School Board unanimously approved a request to change schedules for the 2019-2020 school year.

The changes will take effect on August 14, 2019, which is the first day of the 2019-2020 school year.

In addition to the new start times, schools will no longer have late-start Tuesdays.

The plan to change school day schedules started during the fall of 2018 as a response to an ongoing bus driver shortage. The new schedule, according to the district, will offer more consistent bus transportation.

A team consisting of over 30 teachers, principals, parents, bus drivers and school administrators, along with a consulting group, TransPar, have met monthly since October to find solutions to issues including overcrowding on buses, inconsistent bus drop-off and pick-up times, the need to make double and triple run.

Four distinct routes for bus drivers will now exist; elementary routes will go first, followed by junior high, high school and intermediate routes.

Take a look at the new start and end times below.
