Conservation officers investigating death on lake

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the death of a man who died in Little Chapman Lake Wednesday evening.

According to officers, they were called to the lake around 7 p.m. for reports of an unresponsive man.

The initial reports were the man was swimming from a boat with a family member. The family member noticed the man became unconscious in the water.

She tried to pull him into the boat but couldn’t.

Some good Samaritans helped the woman into their boat but couldn’t’’ get the man out of the water.

An off duty Kosciusko County Police Officer arrived in his own boat and was able to get the man out of the water. The off-duty officer began CPR and got the victim to shore.

Despite attempts by the off-duty officer and EMS, the man was not resuscitated.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner.

Indiana Conservation Officers are still investigating.
