Construction to begin on U.S. 20 near Rolling Prairie

ABC 57

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- Alternating lane closures on U.S. 20 between C.R. 250 E and Oak Knoll Road will begin on Aug. 11.

West bound U.S. 20 will be converted to two-way traffic and the east bound lanes will be closed.

Left turns will not be allowed through the work zone.

The inside left passing lanes will be closed and traffic should use the outside right driving lane in each direction on Aug. 23.

Left turns will be allowed in the work zone beginning Aug. 23.

East bound lanes will be converted to two-way traffic and the west bound lanes will be closed on or around Sept. 6.

There will be dedicated left turn lanes at county road intersections, but left turns will not be permitted elsewhere in the work zone.

The lane closures are to replace pipes in four different locations and begin road widening.

Center turn lanes and shoulders will also be added during this project.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
