Consumers give US economy lift before election

In the final days before the election, there’s some good news for the economy.

Cheaper gas, rising home prices, and a lower unemployment rate have all given consumers the confidence to spend more money.

Retailers, auto dealers and manufacturers are all benefiting from this recent increased spending, however employers remain anxious about the economy leading to a forecast of only moderate hiring gains.

The October jobs report is set to be released Friday.
