Convenience store burglarized, cigarettes stolen

ELKHART, Ind. -- Several packs of cigarettes were stolen from a burglarized gas station sometime over the last two days, according to Elkhart Police.

Police were called to the Phillips 66 on W. Lexington Avenue Thursday morning to conduct a building check after someone found the door forced open and the store empty.

When the officer arrived, they located a door that appeared damaged.

An employee told the officer she closed the business at 2 p.m. on Wednesday and had not planned on opening it on Thursday.

Several packs of cigarettes were reported missing.
