Convicted drug dealer faces new charges after investigation

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Court documents from St. Joseph County reveal 54-year-old Casey Harper has been charged with multiple drug-related felonies following an investigation by the South Bend Police Department.
Harper was previously convicted of Dealing Cocaine in 2007.
He's now charged with Dealing in Cocaine, a Level 2 Felony, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Serious Violent Felon, a Level 4 Felony, and Dealing in Marijuana, a Level 6 Felony.
Harper's first hearing is set for Oct. 7.
SBPD reports on Sept. 25, their investigation into drug dealing by Harper culminated in the execution of a search warrant at his home on LaPorte Avenue.
Officers arrived and detained Harper and two other people, identified as a hired handyman and a house guest.
Police discovered bags of white powder which field-tested positive for cocaine and were packaged in one large bag weighing 20.9 grams.
There were also several smaller bags weighing 10.7 grams in total. Based on the packaging materials and quantities in the smaller bags, authorities believe the cocaine was prepackaged for sale.
Officers also found plastic containers and bags containing a green leafy substance which field-tested positive for marijuana and weighed a total of 87.3 grams.
Authorities say they also discovered two handguns, cash on a table and in containers totaling $4,744.56, a box of plastic sandwich bags, several digital scales, and a tray with a white powdery residue.
When interviewed, Harper told police he lived at the LaPorte Avenue house and had for three years. He told officers there were cocaine and firearms in the house.
Harper also described the guns officers found, where they were found, and claimed ownership.
Harper informed police he buys about an ounce of cocaine every three days and sells it in small amounts.
