Preliminary autopsy results released for suspect in Dennis Intermediate shooting

RICHMOND, Ind. --  Wayne County Coroner, Ron Stevens, has released the preliminary autopsy results of the suspect in the Dennis Intermediate School shooting that occurred on December 13.

Indiana State Police (ISP) confirmed the suspect's identity, previously released by the coroner's office, as well as the results of the preliminary autopsy.

The deceased suspect is 14-year-old Brandon Clegg of Richmond, Indiana.

The results of the preliminary autopsy suggest that a single, self-inflicted gunshot was the manner of death.

The location of the gunshot wound has not yet been released by the coroner.

The preliminary autopsy report has not indicated any other signs of trauma.

ISP has confirmed the 911 caller was the suspect's mother, 42-year-old Mary York, who alerted school officials and police to the imminent danger.

ISP stresses this is a preliminary autopsy. The final results are expected to take several more weeks.

The 911 audio recording will not be released. The recording is evidence in the ongoing investigation.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office will review the investigation once it is completed.
