County officials assist South Bend Police with multiple overnight shootings

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – On Sunday, the St. Joseph County Police Department provided assistance for South Bend officers on a morning that saw multiple shootings.

According to the Sherriff’s office of St. Joseph County, the County police answered emergency calls as South Bend officers responded to multiple incidents in which shots were fired, most notably the fatal shooting at Kelly’s Pub on Mishawaka Avenue.

According to the Sherriff’s office, a crowd of 100 “angry” citizens caused a lockdown at Memorial hospital.

27-year-old Brandon Williams of Niles was fatally shot and there are as many as 10 other gunshot victims.

County officials are urging the community to come together and stop the violence.

An investigation into the shooting remains open.
