Court documents filed in SBPD Tapes investigation

New court documents have been filed in the South Bend Police Department tapes investigation.

Documents were filed in court September 29, 2014 by the defendants, the City of South Bend and the South Bend Common Council, as well as the plaintiffs, Brian Young, Sandy Young, Tim Corbett, David Wells, and Steve Richmond.

Each told the federal judge on the case why the tapes should or should not be released.

They will all file more court documents October 6, 2014, according to lawyers at May Oberfell Lorber in Mishawaka who are working on the case.

From there, the federal judge will decide whether or not to release the tapes, which have been the subject of several lawsuits.

The question at hand is whether or not it was legal for the South Bend Police Department to record phone lines of people who worked in the department several years ago.
