NILES, Mich. -- The northbound lanes of M139 (W. Chicago Road) were shut down west of Meadow Drive because of a vehicle crash Monday morning.

A Niles woman was traveling west on Chicago Road when she crossed the center line, crossed the eastbound lanes and collided with a utility pole on the side of the road.

The driver, 35-year-old Jennifer Flewellen, was unresponsive when Niles Police and Niles Fire arrived. CPR was performed on scene and she was transported to the hospital.

Niles Police are investigating whether a medical condition caused Flewellen to drive off the road.

Utility crews responded to the scene and replaced the damaged utility pole.
