SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Fire crews responded to a house fire Sunday night.
According to fire officials, crews were called to the 800 block of S. Edison Ave. around 8:30. When they got to the home, they saw flames shooting out of the south side of the home.
Battalion Chief Dave Maenhout says there wasn’t anyone inside the home when they arrived and there have been no reported injuries.
Fire crews put out the flames quickly, and cleared the scene around 10 p.m.
Maenhout says it appears the fire may have started in the living room. He says the damage was mainly confined to that room and the attic. He says the rest of the home has heavy smoke damage and the basement has water damage.
The fire is under investigation.
