MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. – Indiana Conservation Officers continued their search on Sunday of 17-year-old Rahem Mason of South Bend after he went missing in Lake Michigan.
Mason was last seen in the water at Washington Park. Witnesses say he went underwater but never came back up.
Indiana Conservation Officers Central Dispatch Center received a report of a possible drowning at around 7:07 p.m. Saturday.
Officials from the Michigan City Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard arrived on scene to search for Mason. The search was conducted by boat and by air.
Crews could not locate the missing teen on Saturday. The search continued Sunday morning.
Mason went missing in Lake Michigan after normal swimming hours and at a time when there were dangerous waves and currents.
