Crews find man unconscious in fire

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Rescue crews rushed over to a house fire on LaSalle Court in South Bend on Wednesday afternoon. When crews arrived they found an adult male unconscious in a front bedroom.  The man was rushed to the hospital.

"As soon as they got here they got him out and he was on his way to the hospital, just that fast," said Fire Chief Howard Buchanon.

The South Bend Fire Department said the fire was put out within minutes, but it is still unknown what caused the fire.

A neighbor told ABC 57 that he saw smoke coming from the back of the house. When he walked around towards the front he saw flames over the air conditioner and called 9-1-1.

The name and condition of the victim haven't been released.
