Crews searching Bass Lake for missing swimmer

BASS LAKE, Ind. --- Indiana Conservation Officers are searching Bass Lake for a swimmer that went missing Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say Anthony Cohn, a 37-year-old resident of Bass Lake, was standing on a sandbar when the wind pulled the anchor of the boat Cohn was with from the sand. Cohn swam after the boat and went under the surface once he entered deeper water. Cohn did not resurface so 911 was called.

The Indiana Conservation Officers were made aware of the situation around 2:45 p.m. and immediately responded to the area to begin searching, along with other emergency personnel.

Conservation Officers used sonar equipment and dive personnel to search the area until sunset Tuesday. Officials say they plan to continue their search Wednesday morning.

Authorities have asked the public to avoid the area while crews continue their search.
