Criminal charges possible for local pastor, seen kneeling on child in video

NOW: Criminal charges possible for local pastor, seen kneeling on child in video

PULASKI COUNTY, Ind. -- The Pulaski County Prosecutor’s Office is determining if a local pastor should face criminal charges after a shocking video hit the internet.

The footage captures a moment inside Kingdom Kids Daycare at the Winamac Church of the Nazarene where an adult seemingly tries to get a child to let go of his leg by kneeling on them.

Words like "disturbing" and "concerning" are how some locals have described it, including members of the congregation.

It caught the attention of police, who have confirmed that the adult in the video is a pastor at the church but are withholding his name until the Pulaski County Prosecutor’s Office has reviewed the report.

ABC57 reached out to the church, and the campus pastor responded, saying he has hired an attorney and will not comment.

Fortunately, the child in the video was not injured and police say the pastor is being cooperative.

“Everything’s been going pretty smooth as far as the investigation and I hope for a just outcome,” says Chief Tyler Campbell with the Winamac Police Department.

We will keep you updated as we hear back from the prosecutor's office with possible criminal charges.
