Crossing Educational Center student allegedly brings handgun to school

Deputies were called to the Crossing Educational Center in Elkhart regarding a report of a student with a handgun on Thursday morning.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., deputies from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call and located a minor female student who allegedly had a gun in her backpack.
Deputies say they believe the gun was stolen and the student has been arrested and taken to the Elkhart County Juvenile Detention Center.
The incident is currently under investigation.
