Wet, wild and windy, Thursday
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – 19-year-old Brennen Davis was named the Chicago Cubs Minor League Player of the Year on Monday. Davis will be honored at a ceremony at Wrigley Field on Thursday.
Davis finished the 2019 season with a .305 batting average, nine doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 18 walks, 33 runs scored and 4 stolen bases.
“I’m very honored and humbled to receive such an award,” Davis said in a statement. “It just goes to show that it doesn’t matter where you start, but instead it matters where you finish.”
Davis won the award despite missing a considerable amount of playing time during the season due injury.
Davis was a second round pick for the Cubs in 2018.
