CASS COUNTY, Mich.--Edwardsburg Police Department reports that on Sept. 27, at 8:55 p.m., officers were sent to a vehicle and bicyclist accident on US 12 near Garver Lake Rd.
Initial investigation determined that Austin Carter 30 years old of Elkhart was riding his bike in the roadway east bound when he was struck by an east bound vehicle driven by Robert Litty 74 years old of Edwardsburg.
Dark clothing and no reflective lights on the bike were a factor in the accident.
Carter was transported by Edwardsburg Ambulance Service to Elkhart Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Ontwa Twp. Edwardsburg Police Department were assisted on scene by Edwardsburg Fire Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police.
Investigation is still ongoing.
