COLON, Mi -- Last night's round of severe storms included a tornado warning for portions of St. Joseph and Branch counties in southern Michigan after doppler radar indicated rotation over the counties.
Colon, MI was one such town within the warning polygon that faced damage from an unconfirmed tornado that occurred near the area.
The National Weather Service office for Northern Indiana is sending survey teams to assess the damage and determine the likelihood and intensity of a possible tornado near the intersection of Sprowl St. and State St. near MI-86.
Several homes and businesses in Colon lost power during the night, although electrical crews were able to reestablish power earlier this morning.
Primary debris around the area were fallen tree limbs and branches, sections of roofing, and broken windows.
Keep following ABC57 for more information about the storms as it becomes available.
If you or someone you know has pictures or videos of the storms from last night, you can send them in online via the ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather app or through email.
