Data Center Deals: Amazon opens Indiana's first "Think Big Space" at New Prairie High School
NEW CARLISLE, Ind. --- Amazon launched Indiana's first "Think Big Space" Monday at New Prairie High School.
Amazon has built more than 120 of these spaces globally, and this latest development is one of the largest in the world.
Some of the amenities include revamped STEM labs, additions to the robotics department, cloud computing resources and Amazon's first podcast studio.
Students will be able to access the space as a part of their coursework through multiple student pathways.
The project was brought to New Prairie Schools by "Amazon In Communities", the engagement arm of the AWS data center development team.
"Amazon in Communities has a focus on working with communities specifically where we have data center infrastructure." said Amy Jaballah, Amazon's Community Engagement Manager.
Jaballah also says, the space helps create a talent pipeline for the future, readying students from elementary school age for jobs in the tech industry.
The "Think Big Space" is just the next piece of AWS' deal with New Carlisle and St. Joseph County to put resources back into the community following the development of Amazons' $11 billion hyperscale data center.
The development is believed to cost between $300,000 to $400,000.
Amazon couldn't provide specifics but did share that they're in talks with another school district in the area about bringing another "Think Big Space" to students in the region.
