Deadly crash with buggy and truck being investigated by Kosciusko County officials
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. - Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded Friday morning to a crash on CR 800 West in Kosciusko County, where they found a utility truck had crashed into a horse and buggy.
Officials say a utility truck, driven by Christopher Hill, and a horse drawn buggy, driven by Fannie Mae Bontrager were involved in the crash.
Preliminary investigation determined that Hill was northbound on CR 800 West and was following a dump truck which proceeded to pass the horse drawn buggy, and Hill continued north striking the rear of the buggy.
Officials say 58-year-old Fannie Mae Bontrager, of Nappanee, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.
The horse that was pulling the buggy was also deceased at the scene.
43-year-old Christopher Hill, of Columbia City, was not injured and the Ford F350 driven by Hill was registered to Media Com Corp. in Auburn, Ind.
Kosciusko County officials are still investigating the crash.
