Death investigation underway after body found near Merrifield Kroger in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, Ind., --- A death investigation is underway after a body was found near the Kroger Grocery store on South Merrifield Avenue in Mishawaka.
Police say they were called to the area of 906 South Merrifield Avenue around 10 a.m. Sunday morning after a mushroom hunter found a male who appeared to be deceased.
The deceased male identified as 49-year-old Earl Eugene Risner of Mishawaka.
The St. Joseph County Coroner’s office was also called out to the scene.
Officials say no signs of a struggle or foul play were present.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
