Deer causes fatal accident

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.--  Early Friday morning, a Cromwell, Indiana woman was killed when she lost control of her vehicle after striking a deer in the road on US6.

The accident happened in Millersburg at approximately 5:30 a.m.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department says a driver in the eastbound lanes struck a deer and it was thrown into the westbound lanes.

Susana Meza was driving westbound on US6 when her vehicle struck the deer. She lost control of her 2000 Chevy Silverado, ran off the side of the road and into a ditch.

The driver’s side door and roof struck a tree.

Meza died at the scene.
