Deer Creek Hunt Club throws a skeet shoot event for Deputy Jon Samuelson

THREE OAKS, Mich. -- The Deer Creek Hunt Club in Three Oaks, Michigan hosted a skeet shoot event in support of La Porte County Sheriff's Deputy Jon Samuelson.

"It really, really hit home when I heard that true warrior, John, was stopping to help somebody out, give him a ride to Michigan City. He wasn't even really on duty at the time. He was going to a training seminar, and then this tragedy happened to such a young, awesome kid that now he's going, hopefully, with all this help that we're giving him and all the support and all that. Maybe there'll be a day when he'll be able to walk on his own two feet and walk his dog Bosco," said Dondald Hicks "Skeeter", an evet organizer and retired La Porte County Sheriff's Deputy.

The event ran from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and featured raffles, silent auctions, and even a live band.

"So, I came to Tammy who is the manager at Deer Creek, and I asked her about putting this event on, and her and the owner got together and they said absolutely, they gave us an incredible rate for their participation with the cost of the targets and everything," said Hicks.

All proceeds will be given to Deputy Jon Samuelson and his family.

"It's just been an incredible day, and we got good weather, a little bit on the warm side, but at least we got a little cloud cover, so we're not going to burn up out there, but it's just been fantastic. I've had a great day, and it's just been a lot of fun."
