Deputies conducting death investigation after human remains found in field

The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after human remains were discovered in a field Wednesday afternoon.

A farmer contacted deputies after discovering the remains in a field near CR 800 N, west of CR 300 West just before 5 p.m.

The remains were located in a recently harvested cornfield, along the south side of the roadway.

The scene was secured and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene.
