Deputies identify driver killed in collision with utility pole

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- Deputies have identified the man who was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon on 18B Road, east of East Street.

When deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department arrived on scene, the driver of the truck was still in the driver's seat buckled in.

EMS removed the driver, later identified as 55-year-old James Conklin, and began CPR.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies say they believe Conklin was traveling east on 18B Road above the speed limit and lost control on the icry road. His truck spun 180 degrees and hit a utility pole on the south side of the road.

The crash remains under investigation.
