Deputies identify man who drowned at local campground

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. -- A Bellevue man drowned after accidentally walking into deep water at Leidy Lake on Saturday, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to the Leidy Lake Campground on Saturday around 3:45 p.m. for reports of a drowning.

David Burns, Jr, 24, was walking in Leidy Lake when he accidentally walked into deep water.

Burns did not know how to swim.

Burns was pulled from the water by family and witnesses and taken by boat to the campground beach.

EMS and firefighters attempted to revive Burns, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
