Deputies investigating accidental shooting involving 8-year-old girl

The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday evening at a home on CR575 North.
Deputies and emergency personnel responded to 9989 West CR 575 North in Etna Green around 5:38 p.m. to investigate reports an 8-year-old girl accidentally shot herself.
The girl was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend in fair condition.
During the investigation, deputies collected a .22-caliber handgun from the scene.
Deputies said it appears to be an accidental shooting.
The Department of Child Services was contacted regarding the incident, which is standard procedure.
