Deputies investigating burglary, auto theft from body shop

ELKHART, Ind. -- The owner of a body shop contacted the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department on Monday after discovering someone broke into the business, stole thousands of dollars in tools along with two motorcycles and a vehicle.

The victim contacted deputies Monday morning when she discovered the burglary to Cobija's Body Shop in the 27000 block of CR 10.

She told police between 8:30 p.m. Sunday and 8:20 a.m. Monday, someone broke a window and stole the following items:

  • $480 worth of Dewalt hand power tools
  • 36 sets of vehicle keys
  • 10 vehicle titles
  • A $2000 Miller welder
  • A $1000 Sata paint sprayer
  • Two bags of hand tools valued at $2000
  • A motorcycle
  • White 2013 Nissan Sentra
  • Black 2005 Suzuki GSXR 600 motorcycle
