Deputies release identity of driver killed Monday

The Berrien Springs-Oronoko Township Police Department has released the identity of the man killed in an accident on St. Joseph County Parkway Monday afternoon.

The crash happened at approximately 1:52 p.m. in the southbound lanes near M-139.

Police said a northbound Chevy Avalanche, driven by 28-year-old Joseph P. Jeffery, crossed the median and crashed into a van driving southbound.

The near head-on collision killed the driver of the van. He was identified as 38-year-old Jason Sidney Morse of Hickory Corners.

Jeffery was treated at Lakeland Hospital and was released after treatment.

Police said weather did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
