Deputies say driver fell asleep behind wheel, crashed into a pole

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Deputies say a driver fell asleep behind the wheel, crashed into a pole and was taken to the hospital for wrist injuries south of the intersection of CR 6 and CR 7, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

The call came in around 8:48 a.m. on Saturday.

The driver, a 19-year-old woman, was traveling south on CR 7, south of the intersection of CR 6 when she allegedly fell asleep and hit a pole on the east side of the road, according to deputies.

She was taken to the hospital for her injuries.
