Deputies searching for suspects who shot juvenile

Elkhart Police are investigating a shooting that injured a juvenile in the area of the 400 or 500 block of West Lexington Avenue late Wednesday night.

Elkhart Police were called to Elkhart General Hospital just after midnight Thursday because they had a juvenile patient who had been shot.

According to the victim, he was walking in the 400 or 500 block of West Lexington Avenue, he was approached by two males.

One of them started asking the victim questions, then pointed a gun at him.

When the juvenile pushed the gun away, he was shot in the foot.

The juvenile told police he ran home and was taken to the hospital by a family member.

The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s to middle 30s, 5'9" to 5'10", 160 to 180 pounds, wearing black clothing. The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s to middle 30s, 5'9" to 5'10", 190 to 210 pounds, wearing black clothing.
