Digger Phelps inducted into Notre Dame's "Ring of Honor"

SOUTH BEND, Ind. --- During halftime at the Notre Dame men's basketball game Sunday night they paid tribute to Digger Phelps, the coach with the most NCAA upsets.

He is most famous for Notre Dame's win against the UCLA Bruins in 1974, ending their 88-game winning streak.

A banner now hangs in the rafters of Purcell Pavilion with his name on it.

"He's very instrumental to this community.  I mean plus he lives here. A lot of his work is trying to help youth on the streets of South Bend," Victor Beachem Sr. said.

Beachem's son plays for the Irish.

The Fighting Irish won Sunday 70-63 over the Virginia Tech Hokies.
