Diners evacuated from Bell Plaza fire in Niles

NILES, Mich. -- Fire crews worked to contain a fire at Bell Plaza in Niles.

The blaze started around 8:15 a.m. on South 11th Street. Firefighters say when they arrived smoke had engulfed the restaurant.

A dozen people were inside eating and had to be evacuated out into the rain. Firefighters say it's no longer a working fire and no one was injured.

Investigators are currently looking into what caused to smoke to billow in the restaurant.
