Disability advocacy group looks to change handicap symbol

NEW YORK — There could be a change coming to something people see everyday. A disability advocacy group created a new design for the handicap symbol.

The new design features a more active depiction. The advocacy group hopes to send a major social statement with the new symbol.

They are campaigning to put the new symbol on parking spaces, bathroom doors and all across New York City.

The goal is to change perceptions of handicapped people nationwide.
