BENTON HARBOR, Mich.--- Disability Network of Southwest Michigan is hosting a 2020 Census hiring event Thursday. The event will take place from 1:30 until 3 p.m. at Michigan Works! in Benton Harbor.
The event will include information on how to apply to become a census taker, as well as answer any concerns people receiving disability benefits may have.
Officials say that a fear of losing disability or social security benefits hinders some people from applying. However, you cannot lose your benefits from becoming a census taker.
Census takers can set their own hours, only work within the area in which they live, earn $19 an hour, and are paid for any training sessions they attend.
