Distracted driver causes crash in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.-- A crash occurred on C.R. 15 involving two vehicles after one driver was reportedly distracted by a handheld device just around 11 a.m., Tuesday. 

The driver of a Freightliner, identified as Kwame Bell of Elkhart, was using his cell phone when he was unable to avoid hitting a camper trailer hauled by a Chevrolet Silverado while driving south on C.R. 15. 

The impact caused damage to both vehicles. 

Bell was cleared by medical responders with no complaints of pain or injury. 

Douglas Tenbrook, the driver of the Silverado, was examined by medical responders and refused to be transported to the hospital.

He had complaints of back pain. 

Tenbrook's camper was towed due to damages.
