DNR confirms drowning of 14-year-old in Michigan City Monday night

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has confirmed the 14-year-old male pulled from the water in Michigan City, has died Monday evening.
Officials say the call of two swimmers in distress came in at approximately 6:00 p.m.
The victim, Mensha Travis of Michigan City, was recovered about 175 feet off shore at 7:07 p.m. and rushed to St. Anthony's Hospital where he later died.
The other swimmer, 14-year-old Joseph Zaknoun of Michigan City, was able to swim to a nearby break wall.
The Michigan City Fire Department, Michigan City Dive Team, The United States Coast Guard, and Conservation officers assisted with the search.
The DNR says the incident is still under investigation.
