Dog found shot on N. Johnson Street in South Bend dies
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – A dog that was found shot on N. Johnson Street in South Bend on Sunday night has died, the South Bend Police Department reported.
At 8:40 p.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 500 block of N. Johnson Street.
When they arrived, they found a dog in the road with at least one gunshot wound.
The dog did not have tags and no one was found in the immediate area.
The South Bend Animal Resource Center took the dog to an emergency vet clinic where at last check, the dog is in critical condition.
The resource center posted that the dog’s owner was found and contacted.
After the dog’s condition worsened, the owner made the decision to humanely euthanize the dog.
This shooting is still under investigation.
