ORIGINAL STORY: PULASKI COUNTY, Ind. -- The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office is reporting that a suspect they apprehended on Sunday after a call for a domestic dispute, temporarily escaped custody before being apprehended with the help of tips received via Facebook.
On Dec. 8, Pulaski County Sheriff's Deputies responded to an address in Winamac for a domestic dispute where the complainant told them that Timothy Ross pointed a firearm at her, and she fled the residence.
"Upon arrival, Deputies spoke with her about the incident. Timothy was requested out of the house, and he complied," the PCSO said. "He was placed in handcuffs with his hands behind his back. He was secured in a police vehicle that was not equipped with a transport cage."
At that time, deputies continued the investigation and independently corroborated the complaint made. As a Deputy Sheriff went back to the vehicle, they found Ross with his hands now in front of him, and the truck window rolled down.
"The Deputy had [Ross] step out and was escorting him to a police vehicle with a cage," the PCSO said. "During the transition, [Ross] snapped away from the Deputy and fled on foot. After several turns, the Deputy lost sight of [Ross]."
Thermal drones and a canine unit were requested to aid in the search, and, after contacting numerous citizens in town, the PCSO informed the public VIA the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
"Numerous sightings of [Ross] were reported prior to making contact with [Ross]," the PCSO said.
"Deputy Speer located Timothy hiding in some brush near the Pizza King restaurant. Upon making contact, Timothy fled from the Deputy. A smaller perimeter was in place, and Timothy rounded a corner near Sergeant Barton. Sergeant Barton moved to head Timothy off down the alley. Timothy and Sergeant Barton met each other in which Timothy was subdued."
Barton received minor injuries from the encounter, and Ross was taken to the Pulaski County Jail without further incident where he was booked on several felony charges.
The firearm located during the investigation was reported stolen.
