Donate a bear, brighten a child's day

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The first annual Bears in the Air program is on its way to the South Bend Regional Airport.

The airport has created a bear's den inside the terminal. And it is designed to collect newly purchased teddy bears.

The bears will be given to children at Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for comfort during difficult times.

"It is our hope that this program provides some comfort to the children of our community and at the time provide funds to assist others in the community who are in need," said David Sage, president of Airport Authority.

The program starts collecting bears Friday and will continue to collect them until December 20.
