Door Dash driver's vehicle struck by gunfire in Michigan City while driver, passenger are inside

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. - A Door Dash driver's vehicle was struck by gunfire while she and her passenger were inside the vehicle at a delivery site Tuesday evening, according to the Michigan City Police Department.

At 5:20 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Vail and Walker streets for a shots fired report.

On the way to the scene, officers were told an occupied vehicle had been hit with gunfire.

The investigation found that a 19-year-old Door Dash driver was in her vehicle, preparing to make a delivery in the 300 block of Walker, when gunshots rang out.

In response, the driver and her juvenile passenger drove out of the area to safety.

The driver and her passenger were not injured but the vehicle sustained damage from the gunfire, according to police.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
