Dozens of drivers under investigation after reckless driving on US 20 Bypass

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County Police Department confirms on June 20 they received multiple reports in the day of reckless and dangerous driving involving a large group of vehicles, estimated to be between 30 and 50, traveling through the area at high rates of speed.

Later in the night, around 9:30 p.m., they began to receive additional calls believed to involve the same vehicles, but now on the bypass. Witnesses reported vehicles blocking traffic, stopping on the roadway, setting off fireworks, and allegedly performing donuts.

“This behavior is not entertainment. It is dangerous, irresponsible, and puts countless lives at risk, including our responding officers,” says Sheriff William Redman. “It is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

The St. Joseph County Police Department is actively reviewing information related to these incidents and will be conferring with the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office for criminal charges.

They encourage anyone with photos, videos, or additional information to contact their department at 574-235-9569.
