Driver arrested on reckless homicide charges in deadly crash

Starke County deputies say a pickup truck driver is being held in the county jail and faces preliminary charges of reckless homicide after a deadly accident Tuesday evening involving a truck and a motorcycle.

Police say it happened around 8:30 p.m. on State Road 10 near 700 West.

Officers found two people's bodies on the ground when they got there, and paramedics declared them dead on the scene, A pickup truck involved in the crash was on fire, but police say the driver was not in the truck when they got there.

Sheriff's deputies took the pickup truck driver to an area hospital where he had his blood drawn for chemical testing. Officers later took him to the Starke County Sheriff's Department and booked him on two preliminary counts of reckless homicide. 

Police haven't released the names of the two people who were killed yet.

Starke County police will be assisted by Indiana State troopers in the investigation.
