Driver cited in two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the intersection of C.R. 17 and C.R. 20 around 11:19 a.m., Tuesday, for a two-vehicle crash.

The report states a 2014 Ford Escape, driven by 59-year-old Debra A. Hoke of Goshen, was facing north on C.R. 17, waiting to turn west onto C.R. 20.

Authorities say Hoke failed to yield to the right of way to a 2021 Honda CR-V, driven by 36-year-old Melissa M. Bays of Goshen.

Deputies say Hoke entered the roadway in front of Bays, who was traveling south on C.R.17, causing the crash at the intersection.

Bays took herself to Elkhart General Hospital for complaint of right wrist pain.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
