Driver dies after shooting on I-80/94
LAKE COUNTY, Ind.—A driver died after a shooting on I-80/94 near Lake Station on Sunday night, according to Indiana State Police.
On Sunday around 11:30 p.m., a person called 911 and said they had been shot.
The caller was on I-80/94 near the 15.2 mile marker, near the Ripley Street exit ramp, according to Indiana State Police.
Troopers arrived to the location and found a black car parked on the shoulder.
The male driver was bleeding and initially responsive as troopers began to administer first aid.
Medics arrived and took the victim to a hospital in Hobart where he was later pronounced dead, ISP said.
The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and identification is pending family notification.
According to police, the interstate was closed for several hours and the shooting remains under investigation.
Police did not say if any suspects have been identified or arrested.
