A fire in South Bend leaves building ablaze
BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - A 53-year-old Michigan man was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop by an officer with the Baroda-Lake Twp. Police Department.
The officer conducted the stop on a 2006 Chevy Impala on I-94 near mile marker 17 around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday for speeding and illegal lane usage.
When the officer was given consent to search, he found crack cocaine, reports said.
At the Berrien County Jail during a further search, officers found 24 packets of fentanyl, 3.2 grams, on his person, according to police.
The driver was arrested on preliminary charges of possession with intent to deliver fentanyl, possession of crack cocaine, driving while license suspended and a misdemeanor traffic warrant out of Chikaming Twp. Police Department
The estimated street value of the drugs was $2,500.
