Driver killed, four children injured in crash near New Paris

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.—A 22-year-old man died following a crash on Wednesday afternoon near New Paris.

Police say a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by a 22-year-old man was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 6 near New Paris around 3:45 p.m. when it was involved in a crash with a 2009 Ford Flex.

The driver of the Monte Carlo was pronounced deceased as the scene.

The 24-year-old female driver of the Flex was transported by helicopter to a Fort Wayne hospital for her injuries.

Four children age seven and under who were passengers in the Flex were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
